Biography
Francis Faux grew up in Buckinghamshire and after a singing audition at the age of 7, he was awarded a scholarship to Westminster Cathedral Choir School.
Coached by James O'Donnell, he recorded several albums as a chorister, often as a soloist, and made appearances on Songs of Praise and Radio 4's Midweek Choice. He also had the opportunity to do extensive international touring with the choir. While at Westminster, he had the privilege of studying piano under Emily Jeffrey, a winner of the prestigious Concerto Prize.
Having demonstrated a great passion for choral music during these years, Francis then went on to be awarded a top music scholarship to Eton College where his interest in other musical genres took root. It was here that he learnt to conduct under the guidance of Ralph Allwood, which culminated in his co-direction of Christmas Music From Eton College. He also recorded with the King's Consort and was fortunate to work alongside Susan Digby, a judge on BBC1's Last Choir Standing, for Yehudi Menuhin's 80th birthday celebration at the Royal Albert Hall.
Francis spent two years studying Music at Durham University. It was here that his love for musical theatre blossomed and where he was involved with several productions including Kiss Me Kate, Pirates of Penzance, and A Chorus Line. During his time here, he assumed the role of Musical Director on several occasions in productions of Into the Woods, Dido and Aeneas, A Threepenny Opera, and The Medium. He graduated in 2007 with a First Class degree and a year later completed his PGCE in Secondary Music.
