Francis Faux - Musician, conductor and pianist
 
Francis Faux is an experienced, friendly, and passionate musician based in Bath who is known for his flamboyant and energetic choral directing.
 
Having studied under Ralph Allwood and Roger Heaton, he has a range of conducting experience over a wide variety of styles including musicals, operas, choral and orchestral works.
He also offers tuition for piano players and is committed to working with and inspiring musicians of all ages and standards.
 
 
He currently directs his own semi-professional chamber choir, Noctis, and is musical director for  Corsham Choral Society, Organum and The Good Afternoon Choir, as well as deputy conductor for the Bath Chorus.
He also lectures in musical theatre at Bath Spa University and also teaches piano at Downside School in Somerset.

Inca Trail CONQUERED!
After a gruelling four days hiking at high altitudes and up seemingly never-ending stone steps, Francis managed to make it to the breathtaking ancient city of Macchu Picchu at the end of April. He would like to thank everyone who helped him raise over £2,500 for Children's Hospice SW, a local charity that members of the Good Afternoon Choir elected to support.

Organum take part in The Great Learning
at the Bath Music Festival
 
Heralded by The Guardian as one of the 'best classical music events of Spring 2011', the choir performed Paragraph 7 of Cardew's experimental masterpiece in The Friends Meeting House in the city centre.
 
Critic Andrew Clements described the occasion as having 'a rather special musical personality' and audience members were transfixed by the constantly shifting harmonic soundscape.

Francis Faux takes up the baton for the first time as musical director of Corsham Choral Society in this concert dedicated to the ethereal.
The choir will sing a selection of atmospheric music including Lauridsen's O Magnum Mysterium, Harris' Faire is the Heaven,
Vaughan Williams' Toward the unknown region and Tavener's evocative anthem, Song for Athene.
Pianists Alfie Pugh and Will Ashworth will perform movements from Holst's own transcription of The Planets Suite for two pianos and Noctis Chamber Choir will also be performing music by Chilcott,
Nobuo Uematsu, Barber and Karl Jenkins.

Organum will join with Oakfield Choir from Frome in a performance of Bach's more intense and extravagant version of the Passion of the Christ. One of the definitive oratorios which marries sublime arias and rousing choruses with consummate ease, this is not one to be missed.
