Tales of the Mabinogion.jpg

Inspired by artwork by Theo Steynor, Bertle the Turtle tells the story of Bertle and his three young children as they explore a colourful coral reef together. The right-hand arpeggiated triads represent the children swimming playfully through the water, while Bertle himself is a slow-moving melodic line beneath them, guiding their journey.

When Bertle suddenly finds himself flipped onto his back, the family is separated. As he struggles helplessly, his children set off to help, discovering that working together can achieve remarkable things. Their efforts unite into a single musical gesture as they lift Bertle back into position, before the opening music returns and the family continues their journey.
